Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral?

It depends. A variety of factors impact the need for a referral including payer policies, the extent to which state licensure laws may define the need for a referral, and the type of service being provided by the RDN.

If a referral is needed we will let you know and help with this step.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes!  We are currently participating with:

Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, First Choice, Medicare Part B, Moda, Oregon Health Plan, United Health Care, and will be accepting Providence Health Plan (2/1/23) .

NOTE- Medicare only covers visits if you have diabetes or renal disease. Medicare DOES NOT cover for nutritional counseling for pre-diabetes at this time.

What happens if you do not participate with my insurance?

We can provide you with a superbill and the appropriate ICD-10 code to submit to your insurance.

A Superbill is essentially a receipt of the services provided by a healthcare practitioner. You can submit a Superbill from your dietitian to your insurance company and seek reimbursement for nutrition services, if you have out-of-network coverage.

Do you offer in-person appointments?

Yes. We are located in the Mt. Hood Professional Plaza, in Gresham, Oregon- off 242nd and Stark St.

I do not live in Oregon or Washington, Can I still work with you?

It is possible. Contact us to determine if we can work with you as some states might not allow it.

What can I expect during my session?

Initial assessments are between 60-90minutes.

During this session we explore your medical history, weight and dieting history if applicable, eating patterns, food preferences, allergies, sensitivities and/or restrictions, lifestyle, and discuss your nutrition goals. I will provide nutrition education as needed and recommendations based on your individual needs. Together we will create an appropriate, sustainable, and actionable nutrition plan.

Follow-up sessions are between 45-60 minutes.

During this time we will discuss successes and challenges since the last visit, and add or make adjustments as needed to continue working towards your health and wellness goals.

How often will I meet with the dietitian?

Frequency of appointments are based on individual needs and progress. We will work with you to come up with a plan for follow ups that works with your schedule, insurance/ budget, and goals.

Do you provide support between sessions?

Yes. You can communicate with your dietitian via the patient portal for secure messaging. You can expect a response within 24-hrs Moday-Friday.

What is your cancellation policy?

Rescheduling and cancellations require a 48 hour notice.

All appointments must be cancelled via telephone at (503) 610-8017.

Please note- We set aside valuable time just for you, when a client cancels an appointment without adequate notice, or simply fails to keep an appointment, we cannot use that time to serve the needs of other clients. Therefore, in the event of a late cancellation (less than 48 hours) or no-show, you may be charged a cancellation fee of $100.00.
