At NW Dietitian we follow a patient-centered approach that treats the patient as a whole and individualize nutrition interventions based on your unique nutrition needs, medical history, lifestyle, preferences, and health goals. We are an evidence-based practice, therefore nutrition information, education, and interventions are based on what research supports.

Work with a Registered Dietitian

What is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist?

A registered dietitian (RD), also known as a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN), is the most credible source for nutrition information. RDs are known as the “nutrition experts” who will partner with you to develop a safe and realistic eating plan that is sustainable.

A RD has met the following criteria to earn the RD/ RDN credential:

  • Obtain a four-year degree which includes a specially designed, accredited nutrition curriculum.
  • Complete an extensive supervised program of practice at a health care facility, foodservice organization, or community agency.
  • Pass a rigorous registration exam.
  • Maintain continuing education credits throughout their career.

Why work with a Registered Dietitian?

Navigating through all the noise about nutrition can be difficult. A registered dietitian can help you cut through the noise and find a sound approach that works for you.  A registered dietitian will help you understand how food affects your health and how to use food and nutrition to reduce your risk for chronic disease, manage disease, and improve your overall health.

Registered dietitians base their nutrition advice on “Evidence-based Dietetic Practice” which is the use of systematically reviewed scientific evidence in making food and nutrition practice decisions by integrating best available evidence with professional expertise and client values to improve outcomes.

Benefits of working with an RD include but are not limited to:

  • Personally tailored nutritional advice
  • Help managing chronic diseases
  • Guidance navigating food allergies, sensitivities, weight management, self-image, and overall nutritional understanding.
